If you've got a black R tailpiece on your guitar, you have either already experienced or live in fear of of the dreaded tailpiece explosion.  Unfortunately, black R tailpieces aren't available through Rickenbacker's tailpiece exchange program, and the only replacements available on the secondary market are an expensive roll of the same dice.
