Rickenbacker cases have always come in two styles: cool or useful.  The 80s cases of black tolex and black leather were unmistakable in their appearance -- but their open interior was not the best option for protecting a valuable guitar.  The new molded cases offer better protection -- but the plastic shell doesn't offer much in the way of looks.
